our decision to transition to cruelty-free and vegetarian cosmetics

Hello everyone

So it goes without saying from the title of the post that we wanted to share something with you guys and that is our decision to transition to cruelty free and vegetarian cosmetics. Now this post may seem out of the blue however it has been something that we have been thinking about seriously for a little while now.

Initially we were looking into doing our own version of a project pan just because our collection of cosmetics in our opinion is too big and more than we need. Along our journey to get ideas for our project we stumbled upon some cruelty free blogs, which encouraged us to some further research. Through the research our awareness increased and we both wanted to make the transition.

Both of us have been raised as vegetarians for religious reasons so a vegetarian diet comes easily to us. It's not like we have been going out intentionally buying products that contain animal derived ingredients. I guess it more of a case of we've never really sat down and thought about it and I don't know why we haven't done this earlier. As they say better late than never.

We will be sharing our journey with you as we make our transition.

The way we have decided to make this transition is too do it gradually. We figured it would be wasteful and uneconomical to throw out all our non cruelty free products and buy everything new. So what we've decided is that as we use stuff up we replace it with something that is cruelty free and vegetarian.

First and foremost we shall be sharing with you our huge sort out of our existing products over the next week.

What we've tried to do is go through each and every product and organise it into categories. The three categories are as follows:

1) Not Tested on Animals
2) Ambiguous Zone
3) Tested on Animals

The ambiguous zone will house products from companies that we have yet to establish their cruelty free status. As well as from companies that are cruelty free however they are own by a parent company who do test on animals. We personally have decided not to purchase from these companies however we're just organising it this way for informative purposes because others may still wish to purchase from these companies.

We shall no longer be reviewing non cruelty free products on our blog.
