thanks and outfit

Hey guys!

Thank you all for your get well messages. I'm feeling a lot better but not quite 100% yet (hence the turtle neck under the dress). This week has been really eventful; due to the horrendous thunderstorm with hail the size of golf balls, my workplace was flooded. It was awful and most of the building is in an unusable state! Although that does mean some time off work! =D Hope the weather's been better where you are.

Today I decided to wear the dress Sita got for me from ASDA for £5. I love the print on the dress but am not too keen on the style, especially the sleeves. I think it makes me look a bit frumpy and is something Hyacinth Bucket would wear. I love keeping up appearances but don't want to dress like her! It came with a thin black belt, which I didn't wear. I'm going to alter the dress but can't decide whether to make it sleeveless or cap sleeves. What do you think?

I wore it with some faux croc flats from Urban Outfitters (£10) and of course the turtle neck from Zara (£8) as I have still got a sore throat.

update and apologies

Hi guys!

I hope you are all well. First of all Thank you so much for all your support. Hello and welcome to any new followers. We really appreciate it. You may have noticed that we have been a little MIA recently (well more than a little) and for that we apologise.

Radha has been unwell with the flu but is getting better now :). I have been really busy attending courses and completing assessments for work as well as busy at work so it's been rather mad lately for me.

Yesterday, I finally had a chance to come home to my parents house for a day, but it's more of a hi-bye stay as I'm off again today. I'm going zorbing with a friend. Well I hope I'm going zorbing. See the thing is I was ment to go like a month ago, but they have already cancelled it twice before due it being too windy. That's why I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) cross that it will go ahead today. I shall be very disappointed if it doesn't.

I actually can't believe that it has been a month since I first wanted to go and now it's coming up to the end of June, I feel like this year is going way to fast. I kinda wish I had a pause button so I could just stop time for a little while, and have a chance to breath! Is that just me or do you feel like that to?

Anyway enough of the rambling, the point is that we shall be getting back into the swing of things :)

Enjoy the rest of your day and we'll see you soon!

Sita & Radha xx

P.S I'll let you guys know if the zorbing goes ahead and or not.

buttons abroad: rotorua day 3

On our third and final day in Rotorua we visited Te Puia, a Maori cultural centre. We went on a guided tour with a knowledgeable tour guide who shared with us stories about the Maori legends and gods. There are carving and weaving schools located in the centre, which displayed some beautiful craftsmanship.

Also within the centre is a kiwi house, where you can see New Zealand's national bird, the kiwi, in a nocturnal environment.

The centre is located within the Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, where you can find the the Pohutu Geyser, which is the largest active Geyser in New Zealand. Rotorua was definitely not short on geothermal activity!

At the end of our tour we watched a Maori Cultural show, which included watching a performance of the traditional haka dance, and of course they get you to join in!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day and it was a great learning experience. A trip to New Zealand isn't complete with out experiencing some Maori culture.

buttons abroad: rotorua day 2

The second day in Rotorua started of horsetrekking with paradise valley ventures. At the end of the day it was a horse ride, i'm sure you could do this anywhere in the world, so if you enjoy horseriding and you have some time to spare consider this. Otherwise there are plenty of other things to see and do, which you can't see or do anywhere else.

Followed by an afternoon hike in the waimangu volcanic valley. The valley is another area of geothermal activity. The views are absolutely spectacular. The pictures above don't do it justice, the place was one of the most amazing places in the world that I  have visited. I have honestly never seen anything like it. I would definitely recommend a visit :)

I shall be back next week to share with you what I got up to on day 3 :)

happy father's day!

Hey guys!

In the UK it's father's day today so I'd just like to say happy father's day to our Dad. Thanks for all your help and support over the years. We love you loads.

I got him a cassette to mp3 converter (see below). He's got a small suitcase full of old tapes mostly of old Bollywood movies so thought this would be perfect for him. As well as converting them into mp3 format, the device can also be used as a walkman. It's been so fun listening to our old tapes this morning, it brings back good memories from my childhood. I would definitely recommend getting one of these.

Happy father's day to all the dads. Hope you enjoy your special day.

Radha xoxo

sisterly discord

Hey Guys!

It's Saturday, which means our weekly post sisterly discord. With summer coming, this week we look at your favourite type holiday. City break or beach holiday?

Radha: I don't mind going to the beach occasionally but can't spend to long there unless I'm doing an activity. I prefer city breaks as it's more fun exploring the city and getting lost is all part of the fun. It's also nice to find the little boutique shops and local markets selling quirky and unique pieces.

Sita: I prefer city breaks, as I like exploring new cities and experiencing new cultures. I enjoy visiting museums and places of interest and learning about the origins and history of a city I'm visiting. I like going to the beach too but I'm the type of person that always like to be doing something so I can't sit around for too long and prefer do water activities.

Which one is your favourite? Leave your answer in the comments below and also leave any questions you want us to answer.

Peter pan collar top

Hey guys!

Hope your well. This week has been so hectic. I don't know where its gone! Can't wait for the weekend; I need a lie in! The weather's not been great too. We've had monsoon rain all week but thank god it finally cleared up and was sunny today. I cannot wait until we go on holiday, hopefully it should be better weather there.

Today, I wore a purple peter pan collar top (£5, ASDA) with my brown checked trousers from Next. They were £16 in the Christmas sale, I also bought the jacket to match. I wore it with a black Cardie ( £10, H&M) and the olive brogues Sita got me (£3, Primark). I love the top, peter pan collars are one of my favourite trends. It's also a great colour plus has three quarter length sleeves so is perfect if it's a bit chilly.

Have a good weekend.

buttons abroad: adventure weekend in rotorua part 1

During our stay in Tauranga a few of us went to Rotorua for bit if an adventure long weekend. It was a wet weekend but seeing as all of us were from the UK we were use to the rain and we didn't let it stop us from having fun.

Day 1
We started off early in the morning. We took the local bus service and our first stop was the Skyline Rotorua. We bought the skyline combo package so we got a gondola ride, 5 luge rides and 1 skyswing ride. We took the Gondala ride up to the top (to get to the luges you have to take the gondola ride) . At the top we stopped off to take a ride on the sky swing. Following the swing we had our luge rides which I have to say were really fun! The inner racer came out of me from somewhere!

Once we were done with the luge rides we hopped back on to the bus and our next stop was agroventures. There are five activities available at agroventures and different package deals available, we decided to go for the triple bypass package. The three activities we chose to do were:

1. Freefall xtreme
This is basically a wind tunnel. The free flight experience was amazing and I would definitely recommend to give this a go at least once to get the experience!  They have a large viewing area so your friends can watch and take pictures. It is rather funny to watch other people!

2. Swoop
For this ride you need 2-3 people, your all put into like a sack thing. Then they slowly rise you up to a height of 40m, this is probably the scariest part because it makes you more nervous! Once you reach the height one of the assistants will give the signal and one of you, (in our case it was me) has to pull the cord which releases you and you fall close to the ground and swing right across, and then swing back and forth a couple of times. This was definitely the ride I enjoyed most. I preferred this to the sky swing earlier on in the day so if your only brave enough to try one, go for the Swoop!

3.Shweeb
This is the world's one and only shweeb. So I would definitely give this a go if your there...even if it is just to say that you have been on it! In this ride your placed in a cycling pod which is linked to overhead rails, so instead of cycling on the ground your cycling on overhead rails...a future concept? who knows! Two Shweebs run at the same time so you get to race your mate which is good fun. You do 3 laps around the track and it is actually quite tiring, yours quads get a little bit of a workout. The ride is probably not for someone who is claustrophobic because your cooped up in your little pod!

Last but not least we stopped off at Hells Gate. Rotorua is famous for its geothermal activity. Anybody who has visited will know what I mean when I say as soon as you enter the city you get a waft of sulphury smell and it never really goes away. A visit to Rotorua would not be complete without a visit to a geothermal park. Its completely different to any other experience, I felt like I was on the moon or something! Hells gates also houses kakahi falls, which is the largest hot waterfall in the southern hemisphere.

Enjoy the pictures and come back next week to find out what we got up to on Day 2!

primark haul

Hi everyone. I hope your well. As you may have read I was working over the bank holiday weekend but I had the rest of the week off so I came back home to my parent's house.

As most of you know I live in a small town with not very many shops so I decided that whilst I was here I would hit the shops and do a bit of shopping for my summer holiday.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that primark were having a bit of a clearance and I managed to snag a few bargains. You all know how I love my bargains!

Dress £5, was £15
I love this yellow girly dress, with the lace top half and then floaty bottom half. The camera is washing it out, it looks like a pale yellow, but actually the true colour is much more of a neon yellow.

Playsuit £5 was £15
I love floral prints and this green floral printed play suit was the first thing to catch my eye and it's actually really comfy on :)

Dress £5, was £13
Some more floral print! I do absolutely love floral print. I think this dress could work both as a casual outfit during the day and then I can dress it up for night time when I'm going out to dinner. I can also wear it to work, so I see myself getting a lot of uses out of this dress!

Dress £5, was £13
Okay so the camera isn't showing this dress true to colour either, this is also neon yellow. My coral obsession seems to be moving on to a yellow obsession. I shall definitely be standing out when I wear this dress. When I showed Radha my purchases, her comment was "well we definitely won't be losing you on holiday will we!"

Dress £5, was £15
Dresses are by far my most favourite item of clothing so I couldn't resist this printed dress, with the cute pink belt and gold button detailing on the shoulder for only a fiver!

Next up, I bought a few vest tops. They will be perfect to mix and match with shorts, skirts, jeans and even to wear under low cut dresses for the summer.

Vest Top £2, was £5

Floral Vest Top: £2, was £5

Vest Top: £3, was £6

Cardigan: £3, was £8
I'm actually not sure about this cardigan, I may have to go return it. I was attracted to it because I love lace but I'm not sure if i like it. what do you guys think?

Shoes: £6
I was actually hoping to find a pair of those white plimsolls (I think that's what they are called) because I thought they would be comfy to walk around in when i'm on holiday and because they are white would match with almost everything. However I saw these ones and thought they were way more cuter with the crochet detailing so I got these instead.

Wedges: £6, was £12
You guys know that i'm not a heel person and much prefer my flats. I saw these canvas wedges for half price. They are a neutral colour and I like the crochet detail so I thought I would get them. I probably won't take them on holiday with me but they will be nice to wear during the summer.

I hope you enjoyed my haul!

Which item did you like best?

sisterly discord

Hello everyone :) Hope your all having a good weekend. We have had some new followers recently so we'll do a bit of an explanation this time. Each Saturday here at Buttons Apart we do a feature entitled Sisterly Discord. Each week we ask a question, which each of us will answer, so you guys get to know a little more about us. We also invite all our readers to participate and answer the question to, so we can get to know you a little better to.

As always if there is a question you would like us to answer then you can leave it in the comments below or you can email us: buttonsapart@gmail.com.

Let's go ahead with this weeks question: Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Radha: I'm a night owl. If I have work to do then I stay up until the morning to do it as I know I won't be able to wake up early in the morning. I'm terrible at waking up. I have to set both my alarm clock and the alarm on my phone!

Sita: I'm a night owl to. It must run in the family! I'm the same as Radha, I can stay up till the early hours of the morning no problem! However when it comes to waking up I find it difficult. I start work at 8am and I tend to wake up at around 7.30/7.40am. Although I'm never late as I only live 3 mins walk away, which is really lucky!

Now it's your turn to answer...

Sita & Radha xoxo
